Lob
A lob is a shot hit high over the opponent, typically to pass a player who is positioned at the net or in the mid-court area. In beach tennis the lob is a strategic weapon because the ball cannot bounce; a lob that lands deep in the court and cannot be retrieved wins the point directly. A lob that lands outside the court boundary or in the net is a fault. The lob is most effective against opponents positioned close to the net.
