Hitting a Beach Tennis Smash.

  1. Read the lob early and turn sideways. do not back-pedal flat-footed in the sand.
  2. Track the ball with your non-paddle hand pointed at it for timing and balance.
  3. Get under and behind it so contact is high and slightly in front of your head.
  4. Snap the wrist through contact for racket-head speed; you do not need a big swing.
  5. Aim with purpose. down the middle at the opponents’ feet, or into the open angle. control over power.

Because there is no bounce, a well-placed smash is almost impossible to return. it is the highest-value shot to practise. Pair it with the lob (see doubles strategy).
