No Bounce Rule

The no-bounce rule is the fundamental rule that distinguishes beach tennis from most other racket sports: the ball must not bounce on the sand. Per ITF Beach Tennis Rules Rule 9.3, if the ball bounces the point is lost by the player on whose side it bounced. This rule means that all balls must be struck before they touch the sand, making volleying the primary skill and rewarding net play and quick reactions. A ball that lands outside the court has not bounced in play and is called out.
