How many players are on each team in beach tennis?

Beach tennis is played with either 1 player per side (singles) or 2 players per side (doubles). There is no 3-person or 4-person format in standard ITF competition.

Full Explanation

Per ITF Beach Tennis Rules Rule 1, beach tennis is played between two players (singles) or two pairs (doubles). Both formats use the same court dimensions (16 meters long, 8 meters wide) and the same scoring system. Mixed doubles (one male and one female per pair) is also a standard competitive format. There are no team bench players, no substitutions, and no libero equivalent in beach tennis. The two players on a doubles pair may change their service order at the start of each set but not within a set.
